This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of Cave Run Lake Rowan, Morgan, Menifee, and Bath counties, Kentucky with the following interesting stats carved into it:
- "Muskie Capital of the South"
- Cave Run Lake was constructed primarily for the purpose of reducing flood damage and is almost completely surrounded by the northern-most section of the Daniel Boone National Forest. An earth and rock-fill dam built across the Licking River created Cave Run Lake. The lake has an 8,270 acre surface area and is about 48 miles long during the summer months.
Interesting factoid: Because the primary purpose of Cave Run Lake is flood control, the water level is drawn down in the fall to winter pool level, allowing spring rains to fill the reservoir instead of flooding the surrounding land. The summer pool water level is 730 feet; winter pool level is reduced to 724 feet. (Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design).
