New River, North Carolina!

New River, North Carolina!

New River, North Carolina!

This is our amazingly detailed, laser engraved and precision cut Map of the New River flowing through North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia before joining with the Gauley River to form the Kanawha River, with the following interesting stats carved into it:
Recognized as the “second oldest river in the world” and estimated to be between 10 and 360 million
years old.
Headwaters begin near Blowing Rock, NC.
One of the few rivers in North America that flows northerly.
Designated one of the very first American Heritage Rivers in 1998.
Length: 320 Miles
The origins of the name are unclear.
Possibilities include being a new river that was not on the Fry-Jefferson map of Virginia, an Indian name meaning "new waters", or the surname of an early settler.
Despite its name, the New River is one of the five oldest rivers in the world geologically.
