Lake Harmony’s initial vacation homes antedate more than one hundred years, when cottages were built around the glacial reservoir that was once called Big Pond.
In 1941, the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company established the Split Rock Lodge on the lake as a coursing and fishing club.
In the late 1940s, Pennsylvania’s original commercial ski slope opened in Lake Harmony, and in the 1950s, it became one of the first ski areas to experiment in artificial snow.
Some remain, but majority of the earliest cottages are no more, replaced by newer lakefront homes. 🌅🏘❄🎿
