This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of Thousand Islands straddling the US/Canada border in The Saint Lawrence River with the following interesting stats carved into it:
The Thousand Islands constitute an archipelago of 1,864 islands that straddles the Canada-U.S. border in the Saint Lawrence River as it emerges from the northeast corner of Lake Ontario. The islands stretch for about 50 miles downstream from Kingston, Ontario. Thousand Island Park was founded in 1875.
Interesting factoid: To count as one of the Thousand Islands, emergent land within the river channel must have at least one square foot of land above water level year-round, and support at least two living trees.
(Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design).
