This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of Columbia Lake in Tolland County, Connecticut with the following interesting stats carved into it:
- Area: 281 Acres
- Avg. Depth: 12 Feet
- Max. Depth: 22 Feet
Interesting factoid: Columbia Lake was created in the mid-19th century when the American Linen Company required more water to meet increased power demands. The company purchased meadow-land in Columbia and in 1865 built a dam across the stream which is now the lake’s outlet. The artificial reservoir was used as an industrial source of power until 1933 when the town purchased it for a recreational lake.
(Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design).
