This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut Map of Swinging Bridge Reservoir in Sullivan County, New York with the following interesting stats carved into it:
- Completed in 1926
- Surface Area: 860 Acres
- Shoreline: 28 Miles
- Average Depth: 33 Feet
- Maximum Depth: 110 Feet
Interesting factoid: To the north are two narrow finger-like sections that become quite shallow when the water levels are lowered and motor boats are not allowed. The “wilder”, center section of the lake holds two marinas. The lower end of the lake is known for its restricted beauty. It is undeveloped in an attempt to preserve wildlife. There is an eagle nesting preserve made from 300 feet of shoreline that is completely restricted from all development. No trees can be cut and nothing can be built here.
The lake's name derived from a walking bridge across the Mongaup River that consisted of wooden planks held in place by steel cables. The name Swinging Bridge Lake was given to the newly formed lake when the dam was completed. (Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design).
