This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of Saylorville Lake in Polk, Dallas and Boone Counties in Iowa with the following interesting stats carved into it:
Saylorville Lake is a reservoir on the Des Moines River in Iowa and became fully operational in 1977. The Saylorville Project covers 26,000 acres including ground and lake. At its normal level of 836 feet above sea level, the lake has a surface area of 5,950 acres. At full flood stage it can reach 16,700 acres.
(The Saylorville Lake Map shown in these images is a custom map ordered by a Marina and is being used to give you an idea of what it would look like. A graphic image will be sent for approval prior to cutting).
Interesting factoid: The principal purpose of the Saylorville project is to provide additional storage to supplement the flood control capacity of Lake Red Rock downstream and help reduce flood crests on the Des Moines and Mississippi Rivers. Saylorville Lake, acting in conjunction with the completed local protection works of the city of Des Moines, also provides flood protection for the city.
