This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of Lake Waccamaw in Columbus County, North Carolina with the following interesting stats carved into it:
Surface Area: 8,938 Acres
Average Depth: 7.5 Ft
Surface Elevation: 43 Ft
Interesting factoid: The lake has been estimated to be 15,000 -30,000 years old, although older fossils have been found upon the shores, and in 2008 a whale fossil was found in the lake. Scientists have removed the bones of a whale that they say may date back 1 - 3 million years. The skull of the whale has been restored and is currently on display at Lake Waccamaw State Park through longstanding loan from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
(Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design).
