This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of Lake Moultrie in Berkely County, South Carolina with the following interesting stats carved into it:
- 60,000 Surface Acres
- Third largest lake in SC
- Named for SC Governor and Revolutionary War General William Moultrie
- The Pinopolis Dam impounds the Cooper River creating Lake Moultrie. It includes a hydroelectric station and a navigation lock that was the highest single-lift lock in the world at the time of its construction. (Boats are raised or lowered 75 feet).
Interesting factoid: Lake Moultrie offers a varied fishing environment. There are shallow swamps, black water ponds, thousands of tree stumps and live cypress trees, as well as large open areas of water. This lake does not form ice in winter months. A world record Channel Catfish weighing 58 lb. was caught from this lake. The lake also holds the state record for Black Crappie (5 lbs).
(Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design)
