This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of Lake Coeur d’Alene in Kootenai and Benewah Counties, Idaho with the following interesting stats carved into it:
Max Length: 25 Miles
Shoreline: 135 Miles
Max Depth: 220 Feet
Surface Area: 29.8 Miles
Early French-speaking fur traders named Coeur d'Alene Lake. According to legend, the traders believed the local Indians to be sharp traders and called the lake Coeur d'Alene since their hearts were as sharp as an awl.
Interesting factoid: A number of Ford Model T automobiles sitting on the bottom of the lake are the result of people in the early 1900s choosing to drive in winter across the frozen lake.
(Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design).
