This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut Map of the Chisago Lakes Chain in Chisago County, Minnesota with the following interesting stats carved into it:
- Completed in 1880
- Surface Area: 5,357 Acres
- Maximum Depth: 109 Feet
Interesting factoid: At one time, Chisago Lake was one large lake known by the local First Nation People (Ojibway) as “Kichisaga” meaning “fair and lovely waters”. The Swedish settlers, who arrived in the 1850’s, called the body of water “Big Lake”. Over time the name changed to Swede Lake then to “Chisago Lake”. The lakes were divided into five separate basins taking on the names of the towns they abutted: North Center Lake and South Center Lake with Center City; North Lindstrom Lake and South Lindstrom Lake with Lindstrom; and Chisago Lake with Chisago City. Today the Chisago Lakes Chain of Lakes also includes Little Green Lake and Green Lake. (Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design).
