Hand turned, signed and numbered by artist Brian Butler. This particular hat is turned out of Walnut with a detailed band of gold rope, walnut casings and deer antler. Each hat starts as a 60 to 70 pound hunk of wet wood such as ambrosia maple, chestnut, white oak, birch or beech. Using his lathe he begins turning, reducing the wood to a bowl-shape about 1/8 inch thick. Once the hat is shaped and dried over a period of several days it weighs less than a pound. The brim of this hat is approximately 16-1/2" x 15" with a crown depth of 5". Size 24-1/2. Stand not included.
